Escape from the Winter – Warm in Israel. From March 21 to April 1 [2013], I took part in a training camp in Israel with other members of the Austrian mountain bike orienteering national team. The focus of the training was placed on a variety of demanding terrain and competition training. During the first four days we enjoyed extensive desert routes and visited the camels on the rough trails in the Negev and Judean Desert, combining basic endurance with bike technique training. Then we held a week of high-quality and intensive training in the northern part of Israel. The weather was good to us and we were delighted to have temperatures consistently between 20 to 30°C.
