Dan Chissick’s blog – Final
April 6-9 Israel Orienteering Spring Tour 2023
Overall, satisfying results for Team Israel at JWOC, according to coach Dan Chissick. Check out his blog report on the team’s performance.
Slightly disappointing, but overall solid results for Team Israel in the Middle Distance Finals. Read coach Dan Chissick’s blog report on the JWOC Middle Distance Finals.
Coach Dan Chissik and the Israeli orienteering community had plenty to be proud about today. All three Israel competitors produced better than expected results, with Eran Segal becoming the first born-in-Israel orienteer to everqualify for the A Final in the Middle Distance event.
The coach’s dream came true!
Today was the JWOC Long distance, with Neta Dafni and Guy Sabo (who was the last starter) running the race. Eran Segal was resting after 4 consecutive days of racing.
Neta had a good race, with a number of small mistakes, and her result was as good as hoped for. She ranked 82 of 117 finishers. Guy started well, but a mistake at the second spectator control, and another big mistake on the last loop, cost him dearly and he ranked 112 of 149 finishers. The split times show that he was 88th at control 24, so we can feel disappointed.

The sprint race at Aalborg University was very technical and fast, entirely in an urban environment. Our team produced average yet consistent results.
